Deep in the Meadow
Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.
Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.
Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when again it's morning, they'll wash away.
Here it's safe and here it's warm
And here the daisies guard you from every harm
And here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.
-SUZANNE COLLINS
Beautiful. At least that’s what I think.
To all the Hunger Games fans, I love you. To all those who
aren’t, start reading.
This is something the main character sings for her dear
friend, who (spoiler alert) dies.
This is a beautiful song/poem/lullaby. I don’t know what it
is. But, what it means to me is tremendous. This is too embarrassing to write,
but I thought I should admit anyway- This song brings tears to my eyes
(sometimes) when I hear it. This song has so much plainness, yet it is so
sophisticated by meaning.
What does it mean? Is Suzanne Collins just time-passing? I
don’t think so. As far as I understand, ‘Here’ is the land of Heaven. It is the
land of joyfulness, where dreams become true, where troubles can be forgotten. And
Suzanne Collins just said that it can exist on Earth itself. In the nature-
forest, trees, clouds, rainbows and stuff.
Where sleepy eyes close, and when they open again, the sun
arises into a different realm. Another universe. One where all the sweet
melodies are sung. This song tells us, that when people go to that universe,
they are never forgotten in this one. Their remembrances live with us
forevermore. The person gone, lives always. With us. They become a part of our
soul.
The fact is, that when individuals become sorry, or sad, they
aren’t supposed to be. In my view, I believe that a land such as mentioned in
the song can be possible. It can exist. Not only in the nature.
It can be in a little guy’s imagination. It can be in a dream
a person had at night. It can be the goal of someone’s life.
That world can be imagined or thought of.
It can also be made. It can be created. It’s not that
challenging.
It is just what the society had made to seem impossible.
But that’s not true.
Sorry for the last time, some of you might not know, the blog blanked out. It wouldn't happen again.... thanks for reading, leave a comment!!
